5 Orange County Teams Win Youth Soccer Regional Titles

John Clark scored in overtime Saturday to give the Fountain Valley Wolfpack a 2-1 victory over the River City United Rush of Sacramento in the under-18 boys’ U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional title game.

The Wolfpack was one of five Orange County teams to win regional titles in Pleasanton and Dublin, Calif., and advance to the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships July 25-30 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

The Dana Point-based Southern California Blues under-16 girls’ team defeated the Colorado Rush, 2-1, on goals by Katie Rivera and Jennifer Horn.

The Newport Beach Slammers under-14 girls’ team defeated Colorado Rush Nike, 2-0; the Southern California Blues under-13 girls’ team beat Lake Oswego (Ore.), 3-0; and the Mission Viejo West Coast FC Premier under-12 girls’ team defeated the Diablo Valley Nightmare of Concord, 5-1.
