Jazz Series Scheduled at Hyatt Newporter
The Hyatt Newporter’s summer jazz series this year includes 19 concerts from June to October highlighted by Latin jazz veteran Poncho Sanchez, singer Diane Schuur and fusion groups Hiroshima and Spyro Gyra.
The lineup of names familiar to patrons of previous festivals at the Newport Beach hotel also includes Strunz & Farah, which opens the series June 15, and continues with Acoustic Alchemy (June 22), Bobby Caldwell (June 29), Sanchez (July 4), Peter White (July 6), Kirk Whalum (July 13), a Guitars & Saxes bill (July 20) and Hiroshima (July 27).
Peabo Bryson launches the next month’s concerts with an Aug. 3 appearance, followed by Dave Koz (Aug. 10), David Sanborn (Aug. 17), Jesse Cook and Chris Botti (Aug. 24) and Schuur (Aug. 31). The series continues with Keiko Matsui (Sept. 7), Richard Elliot (Sept. 14), Spyro Gyra (Sept. 21), David Benoit (Sept. 28), Rick Braun (Oct. 5) and closes with Steve Cole & Friends (Oct. 12).
