GIRLS’ BASKETBALL NOTEBOOK
Harvard-Westlake will play defending champion Bishop Montgomery for the Southern Section Division III-AA championship on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Pyramid.
Bishop Montgomery, which won the state Division III title last season, is no stranger to Harvard-Westlake. The Wolverines lost to Bishop Montgomery, 85-56, in the semifinals last season.
First-year Coach Melissa Hearlihy and forwards Karina Siam and Nyasha Bralock were at rival Alemany last season, and lost to the Knights, 90-64, in a Southern Regional semifinal.

On Saturday at the Pyramid, Buena, ranked No. 1 in the nation, will play Fullerton Troy for the Division I-A title at 6:30 p.m. Either Montclair Prep or Santa Clara will face Flintridge Prep or Brethren Christian at 11:15 a.m. in the Division V-AA final.
Buena (28-0) will try for its seventh section title in its region-record 14th appearance. Troy (26-4), ranked No. 4 in Orange County by The Times, will play in its third consecutive section final and is seeking its first title.
Montclair Prep (25-0) plays Santa Clara (15-12) tonight in a semifinal at Oxnard College.
Montclair Prep has never advanced to a final.
Santa Clara is looking for its first championship-game berth since 1989 and sixth overall. The Saints won section titles in 1986 and ’89.
