Fiset Facing Another Lengthy Rehab Period for Knee

While the Kings’ goalie-go-round came back to Jamie Storr Saturday night, the man who was set to keep all of this from happening was watching from the seats.

Stephane Fiset is rehabilitating a knee-ligament injury that he spent most of the autumn rehabilitating.

“I’ve told them not to tell me how long it’s going to take,” said Fiset, who re-injured his knee when Minnesota’s Wes Walz slid into him in the opening period of a Dec. 22 game at St. Paul.

The first occurrence was during an exhibition game at the Arrowhead Pond on Sept. 22.

“The last time they told me it would be two to four weeks [to recover] and it took 10,” said Fiset, who is anticipating a long recovery period.

Even that 10-week rehab was sped up by work with an acupuncturist, who started treating Fiset seven weeks into his recovery. He knows better now and is already using that treatment.

But he is not yet skating.

“I really don’t know how long it’s going to be,” said Fiset, who had given up only one goal in three exhibition games before being injured. He was on track to earning the No. 1 goalie job, which has since been passed around between Storr and Steve Passmore.

Winger Nelson Emerson, who suffered a concussion when he was taken into the boards by Chris Dingman in a Tuesday game at Colorado, said Saturday he is symptom-free and should return to the ice Monday.
