Eagles Blast Mater Dei
Ashton White hit a grand slam to spark a seven-run first inning as visiting Santa Margarita upended Mater Dei, the county’s top-ranked team, 9-4, in a Serra League baseball game Wednesday.
The victory put the Eagles (5-6, 3-1) in a first-place tie with Mater Dei (10-1, 3-1).
Mike Foley drove in three runs for Santa Margarita, and David Lagrew gave up two earned runs in pitching a five-hitter.
