Chris Dufresne’s Top 25 college rankings and comments:
1. Miami (2-0) Postponement against Washington means Hurricanes will go 19 days between games.
2. Texas (2-0) Longhorns’ schedule not affected by current events. Team had a bye last weekend.
3. Oregon (2-0) Rankman’s preseason No. 1 dips two spots, but there’s plenty of time to play catch-up.
4. Florida (2-0 Moving Tennessee game to Dec. 1 will give Gators one of toughest closing stretches in nation.
5. Nebraska (3-0) Cornhuskers make up Saturday’s game with Rice tonight.
6. Oklahoma (3-0 Sooners don’t play again until important Big 12 home game Sept. 29 versus Kansas State.
7. Florida State (2-0) Moving Georgia Tech game to Dec. 1 will give QB Chris Rix time to grow up.
8. UCLA (2-0) Bruins know all about the perils of moving September games to December.
9. Fresno State (3-0) This can-they-or-can’t-they BCS fairy tale continues this weekend at Tulsa.
10. Virginia Tech (2-0) Hokies should have no trouble running record to 3-0 with Big East opener at Rutgers.
11. Washington (1-0) That big win over Michigan two weeks ago seems like it was two years ago.
12. Kansas State (1-0) Snyder may take a look at drop-back passer Marc Dunn against New Mexico State.
13. Georgia Tech (3-0) Schedule now has Tech going 21 days between games.
14. Tennessee (2-0) We always thought Volunteers should play Florida at end of season anyway.
15 Louisiana State (2-0) Combination of postponement and bye week means Tigers don’t play until Sept. 29.
16. Oregon State (1-1) Traded lost game against Montana State for home game against Northern Arizona on Nov. 17.
17. Northwestern (1-0) Loses Navy to cancellation but picks up Bowling Green as replacement.
18. Mississippi State (1-0) Playing tonight for the first time since beating Memphis on Labor Day.
19. Clemson (2-0) Doesn’t look like the team that started 8-0 last season.
20. Brigham Young (3-0) Cougars have scored 166 points in three games.
21. Michigan (1-1) Wolverines might be 2-0 had they concentrated recruiting effort on Washington’s Omare Lowe.
22. South Carolina (2-0) Win at Mississippi State tonight would make Gamecocks serious SEC contenders.
23. Stanford (1-0) No worries about much-feared San Jose State until Dec. 1.
24. USC (1-1) Saturday’s game at Oregon could define Pete Carroll’s first season.
25. Toledo (2-0) Has opened season with wins over Big Ten (Minnesota) and Big East (Temple).
