Man Sentenced to Prison for Tax Evasion
From Times Staff Reports
A federal judge sentenced a Woodland Hills man to 2 1/2 years in prison and ordered him to pay a $30,000 fine for evading taxes on more than $1 million he obtained through car insurance fraud, authorities said Tuesday.
Joshua Shideh, 36, pleaded guilty in October to evading an estimated $429,000 in taxes on $1.15 million he earned in 1995 and 1996.
Shideh referred car wreck victims to attorneys in a small ring that made false insurance claims, said a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office.
