Man Held in Alleged Plot to Kill Estranged Wife
A Port Hueneme man has been arrested on suspicion of plotting to kill his estranged wife and then assaulting the man he asked to help commit the crime.
Brian Murphy, 47, who was previously arrested on three counts of violating a restraining order, was out on bail when police say he contacted his wife and later asked a friend to help him kill her. Murphy and his wife have one child.
Port Hueneme Police Det. Rick Perez said Murphy and his friend argued and a fight broke out. Murphy then allegedly threatened his friend’s life.
Murphy, who was arrested Monday, is scheduled for arraignment today. His friend was not arrested.
