First Quake of 2002 Registers at 4.2

The first moderately strong California quake of the new year registered 4.2 magnitude Wednesday and was centered nine miles northwest of Borrego Springs in the San Diego County desert, Caltech seismologists reported.
The 4:11 a.m. temblor caused neither damage nor injuries and was felt west to Riverside and south to San Diego and El Centro.
