Coastal Panel Move Shows Davis’ ‘New Tack’
Re “Humbled in Victory, Davis Tries New Tack,” Nov. 7:
I would beg to differ with the word “humbled.”
The day after the election, the governor was busily trying to remove Sara Wan from her post of chair of the California Coastal Commission. Sounds “autocratic” to me.
Sara Wan has been one of the most effective chairs of the Coastal Commission, dealing fairly with developers and public alike. I believe it would be a tragedy if she did not remain in this position.
The governor did not succeed this time, but he will be back. We need to watch this drama closely if we really want our most valuable California coast protected.
