Thompkins Case Is Pushed Back

A pre-preliminary hearing for former Rialto Eisenhower football coach and teacher Glenn Thompkins, scheduled for Monday, has been rescheduled for Sept. 16 and a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 18, both in San Bernardino County Courthouse in Fontana.

The continuation was allowed because the lead investigator, Rialto police officer Kris Arthur, was on vacation.

Thompkins, 27, who was arrested in November, has pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and one count of dissuading a witness -- in this case the alleged victim, a 17-year-old female who was a student at Eisenhower. If found guilty on all counts, Thompkins could face nearly 12 years in prison.

Southern Section officials have reduced from four to two the number of fall football practices Mission Viejo assistant Brett Johnson must sit out for violating a rule.
