Martin Brodeur hasn’t been this busy in quite a while.

Brodeur stopped 32 shots to record his 71st shutout, and Grant Marshall and Mike Rupp scored goals as the New Jersey Devils sent the Philadelphia Flyers to their first home loss of the season, 2-0, Saturday night.

The Devils extended their unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1) and moved within four points of the Atlantic Division-leading Flyers. Philadelphia had won 11 home games in a row and was 12-0-2 overall. The Flyers were the last unbeaten team at home this season.

The teams tied 3-3 on Friday night in New Jersey as the Flyers outshot the Devils, 40-21.

“They threw a lot of shots on the net last night,” Brodeur said. “It was the same type of thing tonight. They got 72 shots in the two games. It usually takes me four or five games to get that.”
