Goettsche Sparks UC Santa Barbara

Cameron Goettsche scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and host UC Santa Barbara defeated San Diego, 90-70, Saturday night.

The Gauchos (4-2) shot 50.9% to score their highest point total since Feb. 10, 2001.

The Toreros (2-7) were led by Brandon Gay’s 18 points, but foul trouble kept him on the bench for all but six minutes of the first half.

Santa Barbara took advantage by racing to a 52-30 halftime lead, with Cecil Brown scoring 14 of his 16 points and Goettsche getting 10 of his 17.

Joe See had 15 points for the Gauchos, making three three-point baskets in the second half. Jacoby Atako had 13 points.

Santa Barbara made 10 of 18 three-point shots.

Cal State Fullerton 77, Eastern Washington 70 -- Anthony Bolton scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half to help rally the Titans at Fullerton.

Freshman Bobby Brown had 19 points and seven assists, and Pape Sow had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Titans (3-4), who have won three of four.

Eastern Washington held a 42-33 lead 20 seconds into the second half, but Fullerton used a 16-2 run to move ahead, 49-44. Bolton scored 10 points during the surge.

The Eagles narrowed their deficit to 64-63 with 4 minutes 30 seconds to play, but Brown’s three-pointer 30 seconds later extended the Titans’ lead to 67-63.

Josh Barnard led Eastern Washington (2-6) with a career-high 23 points. Barnard made his first five three-point shots and finished seven for nine from three-point range.
