Large Turnout Expected for Fireman’s Memorial

More than 2,000 relatives, friends and co-workers are expected to attend a memorial service today for Fire Division Chief Randy Scheerer, who died of a heart attack Dec. 20.
Scheerer, 53, a 28-year veteran of the Newport Beach Fire Department, was head of the training division and was firefighter of the year in 1983.
The service is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, 3800 S. Fairview St., Santa Ana.
