Nine Prisoners Are Hospitalized After Brawl
From Staff and Wire Reports
Nine inmates were hospitalized after a brawl early Monday in the city’s jail, authorities said.
About 40 to 50 men began fighting as breakfast was being served about 5 a.m. in the day room of the George Bailey Detention Facility, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
The cause of the fight was under investigation, but a sheriff’s spokesman, Chris Saunders, said it appeared to have been sparked by gang rivalry.
