Crossing of Picket Lines a Sad Commentary

Share

I was disappointed to read that some once-sympathetic shoppers are now choosing to cross the grocery store picket lines simply because they’re tired of being inconvenienced (“More Food Buyers Crossing the Lines,” Oct. 30).

What a sad commentary on our society. Have we all become so self-absorbed and individualistic that we are unwilling to make a small sacrifice and drive to alternate stores to support our fellow human beings in their fight for living wages and affordable health care?

We should be ashamed of ourselves.

I wasn’t aching to return to Ralph’s -- I just wanted to save a few bucks after enduring the price gouging at Gelson’s, a chain not affected by the strike. I’ve never seen higher prices on a loaf of bread or gallon of milk.
