Lifetime expands original movies

Cable’s Lifetime network is going where the broadcast networks increasingly aren’t, and will increase its number of original movies next season to 19, from the dozen it produced this year. Among the offerings in 2005 will be the network’s first original miniseries, on the topic of sex trafficking.

In addition, Lifetime, which made its announcements Thursday to advertisers in New York, said it planned to expand into radio, with the launch of a four-hour daily morning program, “Lifetime Radio for Women.” The show, mixing music, call-ins, celebrity guests and discussion of issues, will begin airing later in the year.
