Moorpark Woman Is Hit, Killed by Vehicle
A 28-year-old Moorpark woman was killed early Sunday after she apparently stepped into the path of a vehicle on a roadway west of the city, authorities said.
Roxanne Juanita Lopez was walking northbound on the shoulder of Hitch Boulevard near California 118 about 4:45 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Jeffrey W. Davenport, 33, also of Moorpark, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Davenport’s vehicle was traveling 35 to 40 mph at the time. Davenport, who tried to avoid hitting Lopez, was not arrested or cited, authorities said.
