Star-struck by proxy
Devastated and disillusioned since the presidential election, none of my usual spiritual muses have been able to break apart the black cloud over my heart. But then I reluctantly picked up the Sunday paper and found Mary McNamara’s article, “A V. [Very] Lucky Voyeur” (Nov. 7).
Angels, pinpoints of light breaking through, a laugh. Did I just hear myself laugh? I started to feel lighter as I read along, feeling like I was right in that room with her watching the dance of another world. After I read McNamara’s description of Colin Firth, “If any more handsome, face would collapse from weight of handsomeness,” I just wanted to shout, “Yea! You go girl, soak it all up!”
I will never in my life meet these people but I did through her and I loved every minute of it. And of course C. Firth caught her eye three times. She is no wallflower; she was the most beautifully authentic person in the room. She really saw him and I know he could feel that!
