A third victim of West Nile virus has been identified in Orange County, officials said Friday.
The unidentified 70-year-old man developed encephalitis and died last month from the mosquito-borne virus, said Howard Sutter of the Orange County Health Care Agency. Notification confirming the death came Thursday from the state Department of Health Services, he said.
At least 20 West Nile virus-related deaths have been confirmed in the state, he said, adding that 59 cases of West Nile virus have been confirmed in Orange County.
