New England, San Jose Clinch Last Two Spots for the Playoffs

Steve Ralston scored the go-ahead goal in the 58th minute and the New England Revolution earned a spot in the Major League Soccer playoffs with a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire on Saturday night at Foxboro, Mass.

New England and Chicago finished tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference at 8-13-9.

The Revolution advances to the playoffs, against Columbus, after winning the season series with the Fire, 2-1-1.

San Jose 2, Dallas 2 -- The tie at Dallas was the fourth in a row for San Jose (9-10-11) and clinched the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Dallas (10-14-6) finished 0-3-1 and will be out of the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Columbus 1, Colorado 1 -- Duncan Oughton scored in the 41st minute at Denver and the Crew (12-5-13) extended its unbeaten streak to 18 games.

The Rapids (19-9-11) will open the playoffs at home against the Galaxy on Friday.
