Ex-State Treasurer to Head Bridge Audit Team
Former state Treasurer Tom Hayes will head an audit team that will look at the reasons for the increased cost of replacing the eastern span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, the Schwarzenegger administration said Thursday.
“The taxpayers deserve a thorough accounting for the reasons for the delays and cost increases,” said Sunne Wright McPeak, head of the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.
The projected cost of replacing the eastern span to make the bridge safer during earthquakes has jumped $3.2 billion since 2001.
