Miami Turns Up Heat Against Suns

Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat got absolutely everything they wanted Friday night at Miami.

Wade scored 35 points -- including a 65-foot shot to end the third quarter -- and the Heat set a season high for points, clinched the Southeast Division title and moved past Phoenix for the NBA’s best record with a 125-115 victory over the Suns.

Shaquille O’Neal had 12 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and Eddie Jones scored 23 for Miami (53-17), which won its 16th consecutive game at home and claimed its first division title since the 1999-2000 season.

Quentin Richardson led Phoenix (51-17) with 26 points, Amare Stoudemire had 25 and Steve Nash had 19 points and 14 assists. The Suns lost for the first time in their last 10 road games.

Philadelphia 103, Toronto 101 -- Allen Iverson made a 15-foot jump shot with 2.4 seconds left to cap a 36-point performance at Philadelphia and help the 76ers improve to 34-34, the first time they’ve been at .500 since Feb. 14. With the score 101-101, Jalen Rose missed a 10-foot jumper, setting up the final possession for the 76ers.

Chicago 94, Boston 86 -- The Bulls finished with a 14-4 run at Boston for their fourth straight victory. They moved a half-game ahead of Cleveland for the No. 5 seeding in the Eastern Conference playoff race and also moved to within a game of the Celtics for home-court advantage in a possible first-round matchup.

Houston 81, New Orleans 68 -- The Rockets lost Tracy McGrady but weren’t about to lose to the worst team in the Western Conference. McGrady left the game at New Orleans early in the first quarter because of a strained right hip. The Rockets have won nine of 11 games and three in a row.

San Antonio 111, Atlanta 95 -- The victory at San Antonio was the first for the Spurs since star forward Tim Duncan sprained his right ankle Sunday against Detroit. They had lost three in a row.

The Spurs also played without reserve guard Devin Brown, who is out with a bad back. Reserve Brent Barry made five of seven three-point baskets and scored a season-high 23 points in 32 minutes for San Antonio.

Seattle 109, New York 101 -- Ray Allen scored a season-high 40 points and Rashard Lewis had 30 to lead the SuperSonics to the overtime victory at Seattle. Allen had eight points and Lewis six in the overtime period. It was the fifth victory in a row for the Northwest Division-leading SuperSonics.

Golden State 118, Milwaukee 117 -- Former Laker Derek Fisher made a three-point basket at the overtime buzzer at Oakland, giving the Warriors their fourth victory in five games.

Fisher hadn’t played in overtime until the final 4.9 seconds, when he took a pass from Jason Richardson and made his second basket of the game.

Michael Redd, who scored 33 points, gave the Bucks a two-point lead on a running jumper with 4.9 seconds left. Despite several late rallies, the Bucks lost their eighth straight road game

The Minnesota Timberwolves activated center Ervin Johnson from the injured list and put forward Mark Madsen, who has a ruptured ligament in his right wrist, on the injured list. Madsen needs season-ending surgery to repair the ligament he damaged March 15 against Dallas.
