He Will No Longer Soar With Eagles

Share

As an African American who gets up and goes to work every day at a normal job, I am sick and tired of the reprehensible, despicable and inexcusable behavior demonstrated by a bunch of spoiled brats who make millions of dollars playing games.

I would not pay one red cent to see Terrell Owens do anything but push a broom for a living (broom pushers, please forgive me; I would not want to afflict you with this idiot’s presence, either).

Indignation and outrage over Terrell Owens’ latest rantings against his own team appear to be misplaced, appropriate only for those who continue to harbor illusions of the traditional concept of “team” in the NFL.

Players are now only loosely affiliated independent contractors, offering their services based solely on remuneration. Rosters change, sometimes drastically, between, and often during, seasons. Teams move from city to city almost as often as players.

Whether T.O. is a “team player” is immaterial. In the industry that is the NFL, as long as he can run and catch a football, he should be allowed to play, earn his salary and generate revenue to support the rest of his beloved teammates.

After reading about the suspension of Terrell Owens, it left me with that same feel-good feeling that I get after watching “Rudy.”
