Officials Send Trucks of Donations to Mississippi
San Bernardino County and local cities are sending at least four trucks of furniture, power tools, generators and pumps to hurricane-ravaged Gulfport, Miss., today after that town’s mayor contacted county officials last week asking for help.
Volunteers gathered items specifically requested by Gulfport officials. County and city employees donated at least $10,000 in gift cards to stores such as Wal-Mart and Home Depot for residents in need of clothes and household goods.
Officials from the county and participating cities will travel to Gulfport on Monday to present the donated items.
