From Times Staff Reports

By a 6-6 vote, the City Council declined to reconsider the $2.7-million settlement given to firefighter Tennie Pierce, who alleged a colleague fed him dog food as part of a racial prank.

Council members Dennis Zine and Bill Rosendahl said they wanted to reexamine the settlement because of photos given to a television station that allegedly show Pierce engaged in pranks. In a statement, Pierce’s attorney, Genie Harrison, said such pranks were considered as part of the settlement and that “the retaliation Mr. Pierce suffered after reporting the original incident ended his career.”
