Times Staff Writer

Marc DelPiano and DeJon Watson have been interviewed for the job as Dodgers farm director, industry sources said, joining internal candidates John Shoemaker and Chris Haydock.

DelPiano is a special assignment scout for the Boston Red Sox and previously was farm director for the Florida Marlins. Watson is director of professional scouts for the Cleveland Indians and previously was the Cincinnati Reds’ scouting director.

Shoemaker has been a Dodgers minor league manager for 16 years, most recently leading double-A Jacksonville to back-to-back Southern League titles.

Haydock was an assistant to the previous Dodgers farm director, Terry Collins, who took a job as manager of the Orix Buffaloes of the Pacific League in Japan.

No other candidates have been interviewed, although the Dodgers haven’t ruled out adding more names.

The leading candidate appears to be DelPiano, who while with the Marlins in 2003 urged the team to promote Miguel Cabrera, who had just turned 20. Cabrera broke into the lineup in late June and the Marlins went on to win the World Series.
