Cellphone fine too low
Re “State Takes Hands-Off Policy on Cellphones,” Sept. 15
The $20 fine if you’re caught using a hand-held cellphone while driving is the most ridiculous piece of legislation I’ve ever seen. No businessperson, or someone calling his family, will be deterred by such a small penalty. The fine should be $100 or more. Perhaps that will make more people aware of the consequences of using a cellphone while endangering their own lives and the lives of others. Sacramento, wake up to reality.
