Virginia Tech 20, at North Carolina 17: Dustin Keys kicked the go-ahead 45-yard field goal and the Hokies (3-1, 2-0) rallied from a 14-point deficit to beat the Tar Heels (2-1, 0-1) at Chapel Hill. Kenny Lewis Jr. and Darren Evans each had second-half touchdowns for Virginia Tech, which trailed 17-3 in the third quarter but found a way to win its fifth straight in the series.

No. 18 Wake Forest 12, at No. 24 Florida State 3: Sam Swank kicked four field goals and the Demon Deacons (3-0, 1-0) forced seven turnovers at Tallahassee in running their winning streak over the Seminoles to three games. Swank made field goals from 48, 29, 49 and 31 yards.

at No. 23 Clemson 54, South Carolina State 0: James Davis rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Tigers (3-1) over the Bulldogs (2-2) at Clemson, S.C. It was Clemson’s first shutout in two years, and the Tigers improved to 22-0 against Championship Subdivision opponents.

at Boston College 34, Central Florida 7: Chris Crane ran for a pair of third-quarter scores and threw a touchdown pass early in the fourth after being booed and benched to lead the Eagles (2-1) over the Knights (1-2). Montel Harris rushed 13 times for 112 yards.

at Maryland 51, Eastern Michigan 24: Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey caught a 32-yard touchdown pass and ran twice for 81 yards, part of a prolific offensive showing that carried the Terrapins (3-1) over the Eagles (1-3) at College Park.

at Georgia Tech 38, Mississippi State 7: Jonathan Dwyer set a school record with an 88-yard touchdown run, the defense didn’t give up a point for three quarters and the Yellow Jackets (3-1) beat the Bulldogs (1-3) at Atlanta. Georgia Tech rushed for 438 yards.
