Glass friendlier to wine than plastic

Re: “Plastic bottles aim to remold wine industry,” Aug. 8:

Your article regarding plastic wine bottles makes no mention about the environmental impact of discarding all of those plastic bottles in landfills and the use of petroleum in the manufacture of said bottles, let alone all those chemicals leaching into the wine.

Anyone who has tasted the flavor of plastic in their water from a plastic bottle would be skeptical of wine in a plastic bottle. We have such a great problem with plastic water bottles one wonders what the wineries are thinking.

I’ll stick with drinking my wine from glass bottles. Glass is friendlier than plastic and I can keep the wine a lot longer.
