“Katie’s Trunk”

Katie is a Tory (a person who respects the King of England during the American Revolution.) A lot of people in her neighborhood are Patriots (people who don’t like the king because they want to be free).

One day she is at home with her family and Patriots come to their home to steal their possessions. Katie’s whole family escapes into the woods.

Katie doesn’t want anything to happen to the house so she runs back inside. She gets scared and hides in her mom’s trunk. Will the Patriots find her? Or will she stay safe in the trunk? To find out, you’ll have to read the book.

“The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”

This is a great story about a boy who runs away from his vicious dad to find freedom. The adventure takes place on the Mississippi River. A lot of kids would like to go on an adventure like this. It is about a kid who is exploring life. Huck prefers the life of the wild and on his journey he runs into an escaped slave -- Jim. Huck learns lessons about friendship, life and loyalty. Will Jim be captured? What will become of Huck? Will he ever learn to read?

“And Then What Happened, Paul Revere?”

This story is about Paul Revere’s family life and all the things he did for the American colonists. The British increased taxes and the Americans thought it was unfair because they had no one in the government to represent them. So the Sons of Liberty (including Paul Revere) got on the tea ship and dumped tea into Boston Harbor. Read the rest of the book to find out what happens next.
