It’s likely because of the success of Carey Mulligan’s pointed performance in “An Education” that this tiny 2009 Sundance entry got into theaters at all. The weepy family drama stars Mulligan as a pregnant teen whose boyfriend is killed in a car accident; she’s subsequently taken in by his grief-stricken parents, played by Susan Sarandon and Pierce Brosnan.
