Discover Your Better Nature Parade and Kite Festival

Highlights: Kite enthusiasts show off their flying skills, see kite-related exhibitions and visit food and art vendors. A parade starts at Piney and Morro Bay boulevards, and a candy drop delights the kids.

Sacramento Valley Scottish Games & Festival
When, where: April 24 and 25, Yolo County Fairgrounds
Highlights: The 134th annual celebration of all things Celtic brings together Highland dancing, pipe bands, heavy-athletics contests, historical reenactments, representatives of various clans, British cars, Clydesdale horses, Shetland ponies, birds of prey and 15 dog breeds.
Cost: $12 per day; $17 for two days; free for military personnel and children age 10 and younger; discounts available for age 17 and younger and seniors age 60 and older, as well as for buying advance tickets online. Proceeds benefit the Caledonian Club of Sacramento.

Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show
When, where: April 25, Half Moon Bay Airport
Highlights: The 20th annual convergence will feature more than 2,000 classic cars, historic aircraft, vintage motorcycles, antique tractors and a World War II-era B-25 bomber. Other highlights include freestyle-motocross demos, a display of green vehicles and the chance to ride in many of the contraptions, including biplanes.
Cost: $20; $10 for ages 11 to 17 and 65 and older; free for ages 10 and younger. Rides range from $40 to $300. Proceeds benefit the Coastside Adult Day Health Center.
