Detroit Auto Show: Hyundai teases concept car ahead of official reveal
Hyundai let word slip on Monday of its plans for the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
The automaker revealed a sketch of a concept vehicle it’s calling HCD-14. Shown only in a silhouetted profile, the drawing depicts a vehicle in the four-door coupe style currently en vogue with a variety of luxury marques.
Though this exact concept isn’t headed for production, official word from Hyundai is that the vehicle will “give the automotive world a glimpse into future Hyundai premium vehicle design.” Read between the lines and this likely means the car foretells of the style we’ll see on the next rear-wheel-drive Genesis sedan, the automaker’s mid-size luxury offering.
Hyundai says the production version of the Genesis will likely bow at either the L.A. Auto Show in November 2013 or the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. In addition to hinting at the future Genesis design, this concept will also include elements we’ll see when the next full-size Equus debuts at a later date.
Hyundai will officially reveal the HCD-14 concept at a news conference at the Detroit Auto Show on Jan. 14. Highway 1 will be reporting live from the show, so stay tuned for this and all other key news from Detroit.
