Nicolas Cage’s former Gothic home makes a comeback in San Francisco
In San Francisco, a 105-year-old Gothic Tudor estate once owned by actor Nicolas Cage has returned to the market at $10.95 million. That’s about $1 million shy of the original asking price two years ago.
The “National Treasure” star grabbed the four-story home in 2006 as part of a multi-year spending spree that saw him buy an island in the Bahamas, a manor in Rhode Island and castles in England and Germany. He sold it two years later for $7.7 million as the Internal Revenue alleged that he failed to pay millions in income tax.
In the Russian Hill neighborhood a few blocks from San Francisco Bay, the regal home has six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms in 6,305 square feet. Gothic stonework touches up the exterior, and architectural accents inside include stained glass windows, ornate molding and custom fireplaces.
On the main level, there’s a formal living room, formal dining room and breakfast nook with picture windows overlooking the water. The sleek eat-in kitchen offers a more modern feel.
The upper levels offer a master suite with custom wood panels, a pair of offices and a lofted bedroom on the top floor. Downstairs, a step-down lounge, gym and wine cellar fill out the den.

Cage, 55, won the Oscar for lead actor for his role in the 1996 film “Leaving Las Vegas,” and he’s been cranking out films ever since. He’s appeared in more than 50 films since 2000, including “Gone in 60 Seconds,” “National Treasure” and more recently, the psychedelic horror film “Mandy.”
