WGA Awards: Host Brad Garrett previews Saturday night’s show
Brad Garrett, the larger-than-life (seriously, he’s 6-foot-8) actor, stand-up comedian and producer, will be adding one more line to his résumé this Saturday: host of the Writers Guild of America, West Awards.
This week, Garrett invited The Times to his home to discuss his upcoming hosting duties, his personal brand of comedy and who he is looking forward to “kissing up to” most at the awards. (Answer: pretty much every writer in the room. “All of them I can use, even the ones nominated for best video game.”)
“I think any industry audience, there’s that added pressure of they’ve seen everything, they’ve heard everything,” Garrett said of his hosting jitters before adding, “It’s a real honor for me. I’m just trying to meet [‘Breaking Bad’ creator] Vince Gilligan.”
