Taylor Swift: Harry Styles inspired ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’

Taylor Swift has seemingly revealed that her break-up song “I Knew You Were Trouble” was penned with One Direction crooner Harry Styles in mind.

Is anyone surprised?

In an interview with the UK’s Sunday Times Magazine, Swift was asked if it was difficult to perform the song during the Brit Awards.

“Well, it’s not hard to access that emotion when the person the song is directed at is standing by the side of the stage watching,” she said.

As far as we know, the Brit boy-bander was the only one of her many exes near the stage.

“You’re balancing the analytical side of your brain, which is telling you where to go and how to go there, with the other side of your brain, which is saying, ‘Feel everything you’re singing, and show it on your face. Feel everything exactly as you felt it when you wrote the song,’” Swift said.

It should be noted that this break-up has been speculated about and drawn out since it happened in January. Swift used a mock British accent when she sang “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” to open the Grammy Awards earlier in February, then later reportedly showed Styles what he was missing at the Brit Awards when she ripped off her wedding dress costume to reveal a sexy black number underneath.

In case you live under a rock and haven’t heard Swift’s mega-hit “I Knew You Were Trouble,” she pretty much falls really hard for this guy, which prompts him to “take a step back.” We imagine a wedding dress would achieve that, even if it is a costume. She goes on to sing that she is only “a new notch” in his belt and realized “that he never loved” her “or anyone or anything.”

And then there’s the chorus: “I knew you were trouble when you walked in / So shame on me now / Flew me to places I’d never been / Now I’m lying on the cold hard ground.”

The 23-year-old is said to have penned out-of-love songs for exes John Mayer and Taylor Lautner, too. And she already appears to take a jab at her One-D ex in her “22” music video. But her antics this time around reportedly have Styles regretting he ever dated her.

“What for Harry was ‘a bit of fun’ at the time has slowly turned into a personal nightmare,” a sources tells Perez Hilton. “But he won’t stoop to Taylor’s level. He’s just going to continue to be the more grown-up person and get on with his life. Perhaps something Taylor should consider too.”

Burn.

However, stooping and being grown-up aside, this news comes shortly after it was revealed that Swift was cut from the band’s Morgan Spurlock-directed documentary, “1D3D.”

Swift and Styles were said to have met at the Kids’ Choice Awards in March 2012 and went public around the time they were spotted flirting on the “X Factor” set in November 2012. They called it quits shortly after New Year’s 2013 after an “almighty row” had Swift heading home early a few days into their vacation in the British Virgin Islands.
