Lady Gaga is the first performer confirmed for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, the network announced Thursday.

Gaga will stage the first live performance of her yet-to-be-named single from her upcoming album, “Artpop.”

The VMA stage is where the pop diva will make her comeback following hip surgery earlier this year.

What can fans expect from Gaga’s performance? Well, the pop diva has certainly reserved some of her zaniest moments for the VMA stage. In the past, she’s doused herself in blood, donned a dress made of raw meat and hit on Britney Spears while in full drag as a man.

Gaga’s upcoming single -- it comes out Aug. 19, before the VMAs are beamed live from New York City on Aug. 25 -- may possibly be titled “Applause.” Though unconfirmed, the pop diva’s makeup artist, Tara Savelo, posted a photo of Gags working on what appears to be the track’s artwork with a countdown that strongly hints toward the single’s release date.

“Artpop” arrives Nov. 11 as a traditional physical and digital product -- and an immersive app.

Gaga and her company TechHAUS are pushing the downloadable project, which according to the announcement, will be “a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion, and technology with a new interactive worldwide community.”

After suffering a labral tear on her right hip during her Born This Way Ball tour earlier this year, she was forced to cancel its remaining 21 dates to recover from surgery.
