It’s shaping up to be a big year for fashion in Los Angeles.

Dior will hold its Cruise runway show in Los Angeles on May 9. It promises to be a star-studded event‎. The French fashion house has a slew of famous ambassadors, including Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron. And at last Sunday’s Golden Globes, Dior dressed Felicity Jones and Amal Clooney.

Dior creative director Raf Simons is a fan of Los Angeles, particularly the art scene, and travels here often for relaxation and inspiration.

The French fashion house has a tradition of taking its Cruise collections on the road. In 2013, the show was held in Monaco and in 2014 in New York at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The location for the L.A. show has not been disclosed.

The news comes on the heels of Tom Ford’s decision to move his fall 2015 runway show ‎from London to Los Angeles. It is scheduled for Feb. 20, the Friday before Oscar Sunday.

The Dior and Tom Ford events underscore how much the spotlight is turning to the West Coast, not only during awards show season but also all year long, as magazines, designers and luxury brands host more events here, and tap into the increased media attention on L.A.’s film, music and art stars.
