Kate Moss joins British Vogue masthead, Louboutin goes nude

Moss on the masthead: Model Kate Moss has a new gig -- or at least a new title -- at British Vogue, according to New York magazine’ s Cut blog, which reports that she’s been added to the mag’s masthead with the title of contributing fashion editor. You can read Vogue’s description of her role at its website, but what that actually means work wise is anybody’s guess, since magazine mastheads can just as often be the repository of honorific titles and in-joke punch lines. (Rolling Stone’s masthead, for example, lists artist and illustrator Ralph Steadman as contributing gardening editor.) [The Cut]

Long, leggy and Louboutin: Ladies, you’ll soon be able to make your legs look longer by simply stepping into a pair of Christian Louboutins. That’s the word this morning from the U.K. Daily Mail, which reports the shoe brand famed for its standout red soles is releasing a capsule collection of flesh-toned footwear designed to blend the shade of the shoe with the skin color of the bare leg and elongate the silhouette. The collection will consist of five classic Louboutin styles in five shades ranging from “fair blush” to “rich chestnut.”

And just how will prospective purchasers of the Nudes collection pick the right shoe shade to match their skin tone? You guessed it -- there’s an app for that. [U.K. Daily Mail]

Speaking of shoes: Times fashion critic Booth Moore recently caught up with shoe designer Tabitha Simmons during the latter’s visit to Los Angeles. They talked about, among other things, how many pairs of kicks Simmons has in her closet and the story behind the Alexa shoe. [All the Rage]

McCarthy cover kerfuffle: Melissa McCarthy graces the cover of Elle magazine’s Hollywood issue this month, and the photo -- which has the actress wearing a voluminous coat -- seems to have generated some criticism. One non-fan of the image? The folks over at Slate, which, according to the Fashionista blog, refer to her as the issue’s “token plus-size cover girl.” [Fashionista]
