More than a dozen costumes from “The Sound of Music” -- including a jacket and pants worn by Christopher Plummer and a range of children’s wardrobe pieces -- are headed to the auction block Dec. 21.

The upcoming auction was announced Thursday by Calabasas-based Profiles in History -- the same company that arranged the July 28 Hollywood memorabilia auction that saw another collection of costumes from the multiple Academy Award-winning 1965 musical (including the Von Trapp children’s drapery outfits and a brown dress worn by Julie Andrews) fetch an eye-popping $1.56 million.

According to the announcement, the 14 costumes, which will be sold as one lot, include a jacket and pants outfit worn by Capt. Von Trapp (Plummer) in the musical numbers “Edelweiss” and “So Long, Farewell” (pictured above left), a jacket worn by Liesl (Charmian Carr), two of the capes worn by the Von Trapp children in the “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” number at the end of the film (one of which is pictured above right), five of the costumes worn by the Von Trapp kids (also in the “Edelweiss” and “So Long, Farewell” musical numbers), two kids’ costumes from the “Do-Re-Mi” number, and three of the children’s outfits from the family dinner sequence.

What’s notable about this offering is that it comes directly from the holdings of 101-year-old Western Costume Co.’s 6,000-piece “star collection” which includes such rarefied frocks as Rudolph Valentino’s robes from “Son of the Sheik,” Vivian Leigh’s buckboard dress from “Gone With the Wind” and the striped prison uniforms of “Papillon,” and it’s been at least a quarter-century since the costume auction of anything from that collection.

Profiles in History’s pre-auction estimate for the lot is $150,000 to $250,000. Registration details and additional information are available at the auction house’s website.
