Four beer events for a great weekend

Dust off your drinking cap; you’re going to need it for all the craft beer events planned for this Saturday, May 4. Whether you want to drink beers from a renowned out-of-state brewery, try creative low-alcohol brews, take in some art and music with your craft beer, or party with all your vegan friends, there will be a craft beer event for you this weekend:

Fan of Dogfish Head’s creative beer? Hollywood craft beer hotspot Blue Palms Brewhouse will be hosting a rare Dogfish Head total-tap takeover. All 24 of the restaurants taps will be pouring beer from the Delaware brewery known for its take on ancient beer recipes, hoppy IPAs and collaborations with musical acts. The fun starts at 2 p.m., but who knows how long the keg of sought-after 120 Minute IPA will last.

Downtown’s Angel City Brewing -- which soft-opened back in February -- is throwing open their doors for a grand opening celebration with the Heritage Music and Art Festival. The brewery will host food trucks, live bands and an art show, and 10 Angel City beers will be on tap. The ribbon cutting and toast will kick things off at 11 a.m., and the event is free -- though you’ll have to pay for your beers, of course.

Eagle Rock Brewery is known for their lighter, session beers, and Saturday is the third annual ERB Session Fest, which showcases different creative brews made by the Eagle Rock Brewery staff. Fifteen bucks gets you three pours and a half-pint glass (plus you can buy more drink tickets at the fest), and there will be a food truck on hand. The taproom opens at 4 p.m. Saturday for Session Fest.

The LA Vegan Beer Festival is the big draw of the weekend, and so many tickets were sold over the last weeks that the organizers have moved the event from the Roxy to the lot across Sunset Boulevard. Run by Golden Road Brewing’s Tony Yanow and vegan advocate and blogger Quarrygirl, the Vegan Beer Fest features some of California’s best craft breweries, a stable of vegan-friendly food trucks, and live music and entertainment. Avoid the line-up at the gates (and save $10) by buying $40 tickets -- which include unlimited beer tasters -- in advance.
