Although the 10th annual Modernism Week in Palm Springs is not until February, the popular midcentury architecture and design showcase will kick off this year with a Fall Preview held Oct. 10-13.

Tickets go on sale Friday for the Modernism Week preview, the show’s first such event in the California desert.

The four-day event will include a sampling of events commonly held during Modernism Week, including a tour of Albert Frey’s Frey House II (shown above), double-decker bus tours, parties and a sneak peek of the Palm Springs Art Museum’s forthcoming Architecture & Design Museum.

The fall edition of the Modernism Show and Sale, held at the Palm Springs Convention Center, will feature midcentury furniture and decorative and fine art from more than 40 dealers from around the world. The show will open Saturday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. with an exclusive “early bird” shopping preview until noon benefiting Modernism Week ($25 admission includes return entry all weekend). Weekend show hours are Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. General admission to the show is $15.

“We’re excited to welcome the Modernism Show and Sale to this year’s Fall Preview,” Modernism Week Executive Director Lisa Vossler Smith said in a statement. “Thanks to their participation and the efforts of our local partner organizations, this weekend event has grown into a wonderful kick-off for Modernism Week in February that will be enjoyed by visitors and desert residents alike.”

Tickets for the 10th annual Modernism Week, running Feb. 12-22, will go on sale Nov. 1.
