Driver arrested after fatal crash on 101 Freeway
A man was killed on the Hollywood Freeway early today in a collision involving an alleged drunk driver, authorities said.
The 36-year-old man died at the scene after his Toyota Camry was struck from behind by a BMW shortly before 1 a.m. on the freeway’s southbound lanes near Normandie Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer David Porter. He suffered major blunt trauma, Porter said.
The BMW driver, a 29-year-old male, suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, said Officer Alex Delgadillo of the CHP’s Central Los Angeles Division.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, Porter said. The weather was overcast and roads were wet at the time of the collision.
The CHP was investigating.
