Murder suspect wounded by U.S. marshals in San Diego
SAN DIEGO -- An ex-convict listed as a suspect in a recent killing was shot and wounded by U.S. marshals Monday while attempting to flee from arrest in the Point Loma neighborhood, San Diego police said.
The incident occurred after the suspect struck a marshal with his car while attempting to escape, authorities said.
The suspect was identified as Joseph Hill, 44, who has served prison terms on drug and assault charges and is facing charges for spousal abuse.
Hill was taken to a hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The marshal who was struck suffered minor injuries to his hip and leg and was treated at a local hospital.
Marshals were attempting to arrest Hill on suspicion of involvement in a fatal shooting Sunday in the Linda Vista neighborhood.
