Search continues for mother of dead infant found on conveyor belt
The search continued Friday for the mother of an apparently newborn baby girl whose body was found wrapped in a blanket on a conveyor belt at a Victorville recycling center.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said they have not determined who the mother is and an autopsy on the baby is pending.
A worker discovered the infant’s body around 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the plant in the 17000 block of Abbey Lane, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
“The female victim appears to be a newborn,” department officials said in a statement.
Deputies and medical responders determined at the scene that the infant was dead.
Anyone with information about the mother is asked to call Det. Bryan Zierdt at (909) 387-3589 or sheriff’s department dispatch at (760) 956-5001.
