Woman found dead on trash conveyor belt identified as 21-year-old
A woman found dead on a conveyor belt at an Anaheim trash collection center has been identified by authorities as a 21-year-old whose last known addresses were in Modesto and Oklahoma.
The body of Jarrae Nikole Estepp, 21, was found mixed with garbage at the Republic Services recycling plant on North Blue Gum Street about 10:30 a.m. Friday, authorities said.
Police are treating Estepp’s death as a homicide, but they declined to say why. The facility where the body was found collects trash from communities in north Orange County and parts of Los Angeles.
Anaheim police identified the woman on Twitter on Saturday afternoon, but calls for comment have not been returned. The Orange County coroner’s office has not yet identified the victim or listed a cause of death.
Estepp’s last-known addresses were in Modesto and Oklahoma, authorities said.
An online arrest record from the Elk City, Okla., Police Department lists a person named Jarrae Nykkole Estepp who was booked on a larceny charge in January. Oklahoma online court records also show that a Jarrae Nykkole Estepp was convicted of prostitution in June of 2012.
It’s not clear if the Oklahoma records correspond to the woman found dead in the recycling plant.
