Workshop to discuss Laguna Beach’s historic preservation ordinance
Laguna Beach’s Heritage Committee will weigh in on the latest revisions to the city’s historic preservation ordinance during a public workshop next Thursday.
The revision includes an update to a 35-year-old inventory of homes deemed significant for their time-period architecture or association with historical events.
Several workshops have been held to discuss various elements of the ordinance. Residents have asked for a codified process that would allow them to request that their houses be removed from the inventory, noting that being on the list can limit what a homeowner can do with a property.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in City Council chambers, 505 Forest Ave.
The city’s Design Review Board, Planning Commission and council will eventually review proposed changes to the ordinance.
