Football: Depth is starting to come into play

Share

As nicks, bruises and injuries start to multiply, depth begins to come into play for teams trying to win league championships.

Just last week, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame lost its starting quarterback, Grant Kraemer, to a shoulder injury, and Koa Farmer stepped in to lead the Knights past Bishop Amat.

Farmer could be needed again for Friday’s game against Alemany, which is ailing on defense after injuries to standout defensive players Quentin Tartabull and Kevin Summers.

Mater Dei has been playing without two-way standout Ben Humphreys while he recovers from an injury.

Servite played without cornerback Maurice Davison in its loss to Mater Dei. Davison is expected back for Friday’s game against Santa Margarita.

JSerra lost two-way standout Dante Pettis in the second half last week against Orange Lutheran to a bone bruise and it remains to be seen how much he’ll be able to play on Friday against Mater Dei.
