It’s like the old days at Newhall Hart, where the offense has scored 56 and 55 points in consecutive victories and the statistics are simply stunning.

During summer passing competitions, when Hart was rolling past teams, skeptics wondered how the offense would do when pads went on and an offensive line had to block. Well, the answer is the Indians are just as good, if not better. Three-year starters Blake Porter (center) and Erik Stafford (guard) have led the offensive line.

Just look at the offensive numbers from Friday night’s 55-54 overtime win over Chaminade.

Junior quarterback Brady White was 38 of 53 passing for 490 yards and seven touchdowns, tying the school record for TDs by Kyle Boller. He had zero interceptions. “To be up with those NFL guys like Boller _ it’s a dream of mine,” White said.

Running back Connor Wingenroth rushed for 186 yards in 21 carries, including a school-record 99-yard TD run. He caught seven passes for 78 yards and one TD. Trent Irwin had nine receptions for 179 yards and three touchdowns. Davis Koppenhaver had 13 catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Wes Fitzpatrick caught four passes for 66 yards.

Imagine what this offense might do in week 10 when everyone really knows each other. That’s pretty scary.
